Waikato Athletics

On Thursday, 1st December, I will be going to Porrit Stadium in Hamilton. Five of us from Otewa School are going to Waikato Athletics and I am one of them. Even though, I'm better at the track events, I will be competing in a field one. Shot put!! And to be honest, I think that that is my worst event. But I placed in our school athletics, then the town one, so I have to go on to Waikato. I'm quite looking forward to it. I don't really expect to get a placing, but it will be a really neat experience. And a day off school!!! My best friend Anna will also be going. Bye bye Year 8, Hello Year 9!!

In less than three weeks, I will never be able to call myself a Year 8 again. Last week, on Tuesday, all of the Year 8's in the area - about 80 - attended an orientation day at college. After we were split into four groups, we each recieved a time table and headed off in different directions. We played a game in Social Studies, did some experiments in Science, made a necklace or two in Tech and finished off the day with a massive game of dodgeball. It's funny to think that next year, I will go to that school everyday, wear their awesome uniform, have a locker and the weirdest of all - having to go to a different classroom for every subject.
